Second Annual Oregon Trout City of Portland Triathlon

Head downtown on Sunday, August 31 for the second edition of the critically-acclaimed Oregon Trout City of Portland Triathlon. The only triathlon ever held in downtown Portland, Oregon, the event has made headlines nationally for its revolutionary event production model and adherence to strict environmental responsibility. The event features 100% of its electrical needs from solar, a "living finish line" arch, bike racks made of bamboo, extensive recycling and composting, and participant travel completely offset by carbon-reducing projects administered by The Climate Trust.

For 2008, a sprint race has been added to the established olympic-distance race, and athletes can expect the finest amenities in the sport of triathlon: recycled, wicking, long-sleeve race shirts; local, organic food and drink; organic craft beer from Deschutes Brewery; complimentary post-race massage; embroidered mesh running hats; live music; and creative, local finisher awards to all competitors.

The triathlon will kick off RiverFest, a new 10-day festival celebrating the Willamette River with boat parades, kayak paddles, concerts, dragon boat races, bridge tours, and many more activities in and around the water. RiverFest was founded by organizers of the triathlon in the hopes of promoting renewed interest in the Willamette River and organizations that sustain it.

Registration and more information are available at PortlandTri.com. We hope to see you downtown!

Initial Gear Art Work is Here!

ImageThe art work for the 2008 Louis Garneau gear is here!  We very are happy with the design.  As you can tell from the images, there is a shadow of a very "Portland" bridge that looks to be coming out of the fog.  The silhouette of the St. Johns Bridge rises up in the middle of the jersey and our logo appears over the top of it along with our title sponsor, Therapeutic Associates.

We plan on taking a second order in the near future.  If you are interested now that the design is complete, there will be an opportunity to own some gear.  Please stay tuned for more information.

Thanks to those who kept the faith and ordered without finalized art work done, we hope you are as happy with the outcome as we are!!

Second Gear Order - Order now or miss out on the fantastic 2008 PTC gear

So, we have the final design and pricing for the 2008 Portland Triathlon Club team gear.  For those of you who have already ordered on the first round, they are in production.  We should see them in six to seven weeks.  For those of you who were waiting to know the final details, this note is for you.

If you didn’t see the note on the design, check out this link to our Portland Triathlon web page.  The page has the design information you seek.

http://www.pdxtriclub.org/content/view/122/1/

Finalized Pricing is also in.  The pricing is about what it would cost for this gear if you were to get it in the store without a design.  With this price, you get the uniquely Portland design that will stand out in a crowd.

Mens or Womens Triathlon “Shark” top - $63.75 each
Mens or Womens Triathlon “Shark” bottoms - $58.50 each
Mens or Womens Cycle Jersey - $69.75 each

If you are interested, but still unsure, we will have pictures and sign-up sheets at the next Portland Triathlon Club meeting. (April 7th, NW Lucky Lab)

If you are ready to go, below is a link to the sign up sheet.  We will be requiring half of each item for a deposit because we have to pay that to the manufacturer in order to get the order rolling.  If they get here and you are not happy with the design or quality of the product, exceptions can be discussed on a case by case basis, but we have total confidence that will not happen.

http://www.signmeup.com/site/reg/register.aspx?fid=B42VDK7

This order form is set to close by April 28th, so we can get the gear delivered before the middle of the season so hop to it!  We do not plan on placing any more orders this year for gear after this one, so if you snooze, you loose.  Additionally, we believe the design will be different next year.  Not better, and not worse, but different so don’t wait to order next year because you may end up with something different.

Females, we were unable to place an order for you last time because there were only two of you, so convince your female friends and female family members to do a triathlon so they can wear this cool gear!!

Finally, you do not have to be a dues paying member to get the gear, although we do encourage it.  And, yes you can order as many of each item as you like.
