			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Portland Triathlon Club is participating in a ride that&#8217;s two days of fun and also raises money to benefit the National MS Society Aug 4 and 5.  There are 5 route options through the Willamette Valley wine country and farm lands.  If a member would like to join in, go to the link below and click &#8220;Join a Team&#8221;.  Or anybody that would like to support the team raise money can donate at the same link by clicking on &#8220;Pledge a Rider&#8221; and search for the Portland Triathlon Club team or an individual rider.  We have a goal of raising $10,000.  There are also opportunities to volunteer as well.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>As an extension of our recent &#8220;Winter Workout Motivation Contest&#8221; we will be having our first &#8220;Racing Motivation Contest&#8221;.  There are pre-selected races that you will find below.   We chose races that are club focused or race team focused races.  When you finish one of these events, you automatically earn 1 point.  Then  you will be ranked by finish time among the other athletes (PTC members participating in the contest) at each race. If you are first finisher, you will earn 10 points, 2nd will earn 9 points, 3rd place will earn 8 points, 4th place will earn 7 points, 5th place will earn 6 points, 6th place will earn 5 points, 7th  place will earn 4 points, 8th place will earn 3 points, 9th place will earn 2 points and 10th place will earn 1 point.  Men and Women are ranked separately.  In addition, you may submit up to 2 &#8220;wild card races&#8221; if you are traveling to a race other than those listed.  For the wild card races, you will be given 1 point for participating and then extra points if you score in your age group (3 points for 1st in age group, 2 points for 2nd in age group, and 1 point for 3rd in age group)</p>
<p>Remember, regardless of speed, you can rack up points just by participating in more races.  Also, its possible, there will be less than 10 athletes in your race so you would automatically get speed points regardless of time.    You can join the contest at any time but you will not be given points for races you finished before joining (an exception will be Shamrock since we are announcing this late).     We will tally points after each race.   The top ten athletes in the contest (male and female) will be recognized at our end of the year awards banquet.  You must be a paid member to participate and be eligible for awards at the banquet.</p>
<p>If you want to participate, just email your name to <a href="mailto:raceresults@pdxtriclub.org" target="_blank">raceresults@pdxtriclub.org</a><br /> Remember if you race under a different name (such as Rebecca vs Becky) be sure to send us the name as we will find it in the results. <br /> Also, as you complete races, you should also send an email to the address above so we know to look up your ranking.  We will send reminders. </p>
<p><strong>Speedsters, middle of the packers and back of the packers&#8212;The time is now to get involved! Racing is what we do.  Every distance is represented.  Even some off road.  Do one or do them all.  Join our contest and get out and race! </strong></p>

No more waiting by the mailbox for your new card!</p>
